Hi, we're just registering some of our gilts and so we'll be getting the little green eartags from David.
What sort of applicator pliers do you need for them?
Cheers

when you register them be sure to register them to the new owner, not to yourself - this will save David having to reregister them when they are sold (something that he gets very cross about!!) and will mean the pedigree and ear tags will go to the new owner, not to you.
disregard all that if you are keeping them

Thanks Wendy - I emailed David and he said about registering with the new owners so that's what we've done.
However, we are plannign on keeping one or two of our gilts so will register them ourselves eventually and need to put the ear tags in ourselves - what sort of applicator do they need? I need to let the people who bought our piggies the info too.
Thanks so much

i can't help you on that one i'm afraid - i use small metal ear tags and don't (i confess) put the BKKPS ones in as i think they are a bit big and ugly. Also for anyone who 'meats' their pigs you have to use metal tags.
if you look on www.ritchey.com on the tagging page, i think you'll find the right applicator there.

You don't HAVE to put eartags in until the pig is 12 months old. And even after 1year, if it never leaves the holding it doesn't need an eartag. As far as I know plenty of people don't eartag until they need to.
