should boars be castrated before sale?

I have brother and sister going to be raised for meat. should I get the boar castrated before they go?

I would say yes, assuming they are going to be kept together. The boar may well become sexually active from 6 months on so there is a high risk of the gilt getting pregnant at this stage as most people taking kunekune for meat do not do so until they are over 8 months, usually around 12 months. If your boar is sexually active then you are also at a higher risk of boar taint becoming an issue. This is not so if kept in single sex groups.

i would second Sam's opinion here - there is always the risk that pigs sold for meat do not end up as meat....
