second litter - many more boys!

Post by petra » Wed Jun 17, 2009 8:53 pm

Well, our second litter was born on Friday. All happy and healthy but we obviously have a genetic problem as again we have a vast majority of boys. There will be an influx of pork sausages on the market unless anyone knows of any interested parties :?

Another litter

This is interesting as I have had a lot more boys this year and I was talking to someone else who said the same. Surely that can't be genetic? More likely the weather or position of the sun???!!

Anyone else had more boys this year?

i've just had two litters of 8 with only 4 boys out of 16, although my last two litters were 3 piglets in each and 4 boys out of 6

how about going through all our litter notifications from each sow and seeing what her total output of boys and girls has been?
i'll do that when i have time :)
