Surprise litter today!

Post by Di » Wed Feb 11, 2009 7:24 pm

Well, they say the best laid plans, etc., etc. We are due to move on Friday 20th to the house right next door to our smallholding. I had thought Minnie was due on 5th March. Brilliant - no more driving backwards and forwards from home to field (about 1.5 miles each way).

Except tonight when I went to feed the pigs I found Minnie in the ark with 5 piglets!! All seemed OK and although the boar and two 'aunties' are still in the field I thought it best to leave well enough alone. There is a second ark, so I put straw in this and hope the others 'move house'. Fingers crossed.

Don't know whether they are gilts or boars, but there are 3 black and white spotted and 2 ginger and black spotted. Will have a chance to have a better look tomorrow in daylight.

Well, I've lost one! Don't know what hapened. Either I counted wrong in the poor light the other evening or one has disappeared. Fox maybe?

Anyway I have 2 black and white boars and a black and white gilt (withour piri piri) and a ginger and black spotty gilt with piri piri. They are Andrew/Awakino and are for sale.

These piglets are for sale. I have not yet castrated the boars so if you are looking for a castrated boar contact me before they get too big.

They are all looking lovely and fighting Mum and Dad for the sow and weaner nuts.
