feeding a pregnant sow

Post by pedro1 » Tue Dec 06, 2011 3:26 pm

i was thinking as a guide to feed my sow that is due on Christmas day. i was thinking off feeding her 0.5 lbs for the last 2 days of her pregnancy and then when she has given birth i was going to increase it to 0.75 lbs for 3 days after she has given birth. i then know that she needs to be on 3 lbs of food by 3 weeks plus o.5 lbs for every piglet she is feeding but i don't know whether i should build this up slowly after the 3 days to the 3 weeks or should i just jump to it. also i was wondering how much should i add to her food daily. any help is gratefully from pedro

any sow pregnant or not would be on about 1 lb of sow nuts a day at this time of yesr. don't increase the food before she farrows or you will increase the chances of mastitis. increase gradually after farrowing to reach the target you mentioned by three weeks.
