can I put the sow back after weaning

Post by nipper » Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:04 pm

I care for four gilts, one of which surprised us with a healthy litter of five, born outside in the arc, which she shares with three other gilts. Mum was removed indoors with the piglets and is a very caring and happy mum, however I would like to know if after weaning (I intend to wean at 8 weeks) would it be prudent to reintroduce her to the other three gilts in the paddock?
I have FGASA game ranger qualification;
Employed at The Adventure Farm, as the Head animal Keeper where we have five kunekune Boars and four Gilts.

yes, you can re-introduce her but there may be a bit of fighting to start with. just make sure they have plenty of space or better still move them all into a fresh paddock/pen the day you put her back in
