We live in a small fishing port and have an abundant supply of freshly landed fish.

I was wondering if there is any reason why we couldn't feed kunekunes some fish, from time to time - not as a staple diet?

Also, is there any reason why we shouldn't use hay instead of straw for bedding? (We also keep hens and straw is recommended for them.)

I don't think you can feed raw fish, and you would probably need to be licenced to cook it for feed production. But all the rules are 'interpreted' by your local trading standards animal health dept and I would send a quick email to check their opinion - as rules are enforced locally.

I think straw is better for bedding, and its cheaper. Save the hay, and feed it to them. Sometimes hay can be dusty and is more prone to getting damp.

I'll use the hay till my straw order arrives, then switch I think.
