I always feed Allen and page pot bellied pig nuts as the protein levels are lower and it has been specially designed and researched for pot bellied pigs from Tom

The general advice is to feed low protein nuts, and this is what I do. With higher protein feed its harder to give the right amount and theres the risk of the pigs getting fat.
But you can feed higher protein nuts, you just need to feed them less and add veg or whatever else you have to give a bit more bulk.

I think the 'pet pig' specific feed are just a way of charging more for the same thing.

I have always fed my kunekune on standard sow breeder nuts as I do my big breeds. I agree entirely with what Simon says, either choose a lower protein feed and potentially feed a little more or higher protein and less. As you rightly pointed out in your first post, it's all about the protein!

I have so many pigs I tend to want to get exactly what they need to provide them with all the nutrients they require but at minimal cost especially as mine free range widely and eat lots of hay in the winter.

There are specialist nuts as Pedro pointed out which are undoubtedley excellent but many (although not all) are very expensive for what, in terms of composition, is an almost identical nut.

Personally I'd stick to what you've always done :D

i feed sow breeder 16% but simply because i have pigs of all shapes and sizes - i just feed the kunes less. this is my choice because i think the pet pig food is overpriced but i'm sure if you only have a couple of kunes this will make little difference so go with whatever you feel comfortable with - as long as its a pig nut the nutrients will be correct whatever the % protein
