Mange treatments

Post by Puffedgar » Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:06 pm

Today we have noticed scabby skin and some sore patches and excessive scratching especially on one of our two kunekune pigs. We have only had them for two weeks and they have been wormed and lice powdered. Starting to worry could it be mange? what treatment is best and easiest available in the UK?
Many thanks

It could be mange. This is as normal as it is for a pig to have worms, so don't worry. It just needs controlling.
Noromectin is a common treatment and that will also cover you for worms and other parasites. An injection every six months is advised, but if you monitor your pigs - as you clearly are - then it can be less frequent if you only have 2.
