Sore Piris

Post by FoelF » Mon Aug 21, 2017 1:12 pm

We rehomed a lovely kunekune x sow in May, she has free range access around our smallholding, is friendly and happy.

I'm a bit worried about her piris though as one looks inflamed, I think from her lying on it. Is this normal and is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Thanks :)

I've never seen an inflamed pire due to the pig lying on it.

You should be able to squeeze it with a bit of force before the pig complains. If its obviously tender, then it may be infected if its been injured in the past.

The most common cause or pire problems are being bitten by other pigs.
