Coughing

Post by Lynndb » Tue Mar 03, 2015 9:53 am

I noticed my three year old male kunekune coughing this morning. It was just after they'd eaten and sounded very dry (like a horn!). He's fine apart from that and eating well. Should I call the vet?

He probably simply had something caught in his throat. I would keep an eye on him and see if he does this at other times. I would be looking for such things as if he is off his food, acting differently, lying in his bed and not moving, coughing more often or has a temperature........then I would call my vet :) If you are concerned however then calling your vet is the best option.
Cheerio for now, Sam Jones :-)

Agree with Sam! If short duration and no other clinical signs, I wouldn't worry. Persistent or other clinical signs, call the vet!

Thank you both for your advice. He seems fine now.
