He probably simply had something caught in his throat. I would keep an eye on him and see if he does this at other times. I would be looking for such things as if he is off his food, acting differently, lying in his bed and not moving, coughing more often or has a temperature........then I would call my vet
If you are concerned however then calling your vet is the best option.

Agree with Sam! If short duration and no other clinical signs, I wouldn't worry. Persistent or other clinical signs, call the vet!
