Official Colours - gold tip?

I've just read in Petra's thread on her litter, that she has some "brown and white" piglets but is baffled as that doesn't fall under the official colours. We have a couple too.

It's definitely brown and white - the other patchy ones we have being definitely black and white. It's only once they started venturing outside that you can see taht the brown patches are actually black/brown and stripey, like wild boar piglets are.

Is this "gold tip"? That's my only guess!

Whatever it is, it's very attractive. :)

Hello Caroline

well, I'm pleased I'm not the only one! I am trying to search on the internet for the official new Zealand colour coding. Will keep you posted when I get somewhere.

the colours are in the members pages on this site.
unfortunately the brown will turn black in the end so its best to just register them as black and whte.

the stripes are a throw back from the european wild pigs that captain cook took to NZ and are frowned upon in kune circles i'm afraid :(

We had brown and white spotty ones this year and the dark spots were obviously stripy in the sun.

We also bought ginger/brown striped pigs in the first place and we thought they were beautiful so the Kune circles can frown all they like! Janis still gets lighter in the summer.
