Does anyone know why the kunekune have piris and what use to they have. Do any other pigs have these or are they unique to kunekune.

My gilt has no piris, does this make her bad breeding stock or if the boar has piris does this give a 50/50 chance of the piglets having them? Would you say piglets without piris should be sold for less. Would you enter a Kune without piris but otherwise a good example in a show?

it doesn't make her bad but the best pigs to breed from are the ones with two and never use a boar who has none.
i would still enter a pig with no piris for a show - piris are worth 10 points when judging but so are good feet, legs, back and head so you can't always have it all.
personally i would far rather breed from a good little sow with no pirirs than some awful long legged thing with 2.
yes, i personally think a good piglet with all the right bits in the right places and two piris is worth more than a mediocre one with no piris.
