Grass Consumption

Post by ailsaw » Wed Jun 28, 2017 4:02 am

Hello - we are considering having a couple of kunekune pigs on our property. We would like them to act as lawn mowers in a couple of the paddocks. Do they eat enough grass to keep it down? Thanks

Hello there,

A couple of kunekune pigs are very effective lawn mowers :D However, it is important to note that not all kunekune will not dig on certain ground. You may find you have some and they never even scuff the surface. This is often to do with your land although there are certain kunekune, times of year and age of pig that are more like to. I have diggers come to stay with me who stop digging the moment they set trotter on my land

You will only know for certain when they arrive........
Cheerio for now, Sam Jones :-)
