What breed are my sows

Post by Julianngrant » Tue Dec 29, 2015 1:01 pm

I rescued the pigs you can see on the page linked below from a lady that bought them as micro pigs but they got too big for her. Any ideas what breed or cross they may be? They now live in a nice big secure paddock I purchased.

They could be Berkshire crossed with a kunekune. They're small and the colour is being held by the Berskshire with some white coming out on the body.

Their faces and tumies and colour could also indicate some potbelly in there which wouldnt be uncommon in what is often refer to as micro pig. Could be pot belly cross in a previous generation.

Thanks for the replies. So potentially a Mix of several breeds. Either way they're very lovely. Come running over to me grunting and wagging their tails every time I enter the field.

That really is the most important thing. Glad you are enjoying them.
