Last week I sadly lost one of my " 1/2yr old kunekune gilts. I still have her litter sister who is getting a lot of love and attention , but am aware that she will not be happy living alone.
What is the best way to introduce a new companion and is it best to be another kunekune or would another animal make a suitable companion for her??
Lone pig - what is a suitable companion?
Re: Lone pig - what is a suitable companion?
Hello,
sorry to hear about your kune.
it is definitely best to introduce another kune. other animals are not really suitable companions and difficulties will arise with different diets etc.
is your pig 6 months old or 1or 2 years old? i wasn't sure what you meant.
if 6 months, introducing another of a similar age will be very easy. if older then i would be inclined to bring in a younger pig. The older one will not see a young pig as a threat so will be more accepting of it. A castrate is probably the easiest to bring in
hope this help.

Hi,
I have two pot-bellied pigs that new rehoming. Been family pets, but due to a change of circumstances I have to let them go.
They are brother(castrated) and sister and 2.5 years old and would like to keep them together. Would you be interested?
Thanks
