Pig Poo as Fertiliser?

Post by turnies » Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:30 am

Hello Everyone.
Our piggy paddocks are looking a bit tired, after five years of use by our two chaps, and we were thinking of using their poo as a fertiliser - but were wondering if there was any particular way to do it? Does it need to be composted first (and if so for how long?); can it just be spread around and maybe harrowed in, or mixed with some water beforehand? Also, when is the best time to do it - now, when they have just moved onto their winter paddock, or in early spring? How much time would be needed before they can be moved back onto it?
Grateful for any advice!
Brian & Marie-Claire

it should be composted first, not much time, a week or two in good temperatur will be ok, I usually mixed with green compost
