Overnight

Post by Hendred » Tue Sep 09, 2014 9:24 pm

Hi all,

I am currently sorting my outbuilding/stable for two pigs, it has a back room for sleeping and then another room on the way out with a gate, what I would like to know is do you all lock your pigs up at night or leave their door open? My situation is slightly different to most with an arc as they will have the next room for toilets if needed in the night or will they want to go outside where they normally go to the toilet or do they not go out at night?

They will be too pig for fox attacks by the time I get them (I hope!).

I would prefer to leave it open for them to roam when they want but want to do what's best for them.

Thanks
John

Hi there,

Most of my pigs live in 4 acres of woodland and pasture. They range in age from 8 weeks to 8 years and they all have open access to their bedrooms. They tend to stay in bed all night and only come out in the morning for their ritualistic pee and poo, just before breakfast, even though the bedroom door is open all night

I only ever shut in ill pigs or sows with a young litter.
Cheerio for now, Sam Jones :-)
