Castrated Boars keep Fighting

Post by Ellie Rockley » Mon Apr 15, 2013 7:53 pm

We have three castrates which have always got along fine. Recently two of them had a fight and injured one another quite badly. We have separated them but they are still trying to get at one another through the fencing.

Today we thought they'd calmed down and tried putting them back together again but within seconds they were fighting like entire boars! We knew we had to separate them or I'd be calling out the vet to their injuries. We eventually separated them with a boards and sticks.

I didn't think that castrates behaved this way? Can anyone advise why they are behaving like this?

This is really unusual. I suppose the first thing to check is if they are castrated properly.
Or are they competing for something; food, water, shelter.
