Puberty in pigs?

My two kunekune/pot bellied pig crosses are now 5 months old (female). They are not neutered. At what age will they reach sexual maturity. I'm not considering breeding from them at all but wondered if I should expect any change in behaviour during this time e.g. aggression towards each other or myse...

Thanks - you've reassured me! They have access to fresh water all day, so I guess it's just a little quirk of theirs

Pot bellied pig feed. They've always behaved like this ever since we got them - they were on a pig grower feed when we first had them but did the same thing. It really makes us laugh but assumed that this was normal pig behaviour.

they have amazing snouts! looks like you could have a bit of rooting potential there!! Unfortunately, I agree. They made very short work of completely ploughing over the dog run that we initially had them in - not a blade of grass or root in sight!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed now that they have...

An update on Betty and Lottie who have now been with us for about two and a half months now. After my initial worries about taming them and their biting, I have to say that they both now make gorgeous pets. They run over to their names (or is that the food they're anticipating every time they see me...

Just wondered if any members had any more information/advice on feeding 4 month old Kune/pot bellied cross gilts that now have constant access to grass. They are pet pigs only. At the moment, I've roughly halved their pot bellied pig feed. They are still given veggie treats, usually a couple of carr...

Thanks. If I continue with the pot bellied pig feed, what percentage reduction in amount would you recommend, or do you carry on giving the recommended weight in feed based on the pigs own weight. I'm just concerned that I don't want them piling on the pounds too much as they are constantly munching...

Feeding only grass

My 2 kunekune/Pot Bellied pig crosses are now four months old. They had been kept in my dog run until today where thay had access to a small outdoor area. I've pig-proofed one of my fields where I keep my five sheep and moved the pigs in with them this afternoon. Currently there's loads of grass and...

That is very true - a bit like a child having a tantrum that miraculously disappears the minute they get what they want

Gave the pigs their noromectin injection yesterday - I've just about recovered from the ordeal enough to write this post!!!! I can't believe how strong the pigs were despite being only 10 weeks old and weighing a mere 13 kgs - and the NOISE......it was a real battle. Can't say I'm looking forward mu...

Right, I've got the erysipelas vaccine and ivermectin worming injection from the vet. The erisipelas is a 2ml deep intramuscular injection. As a former nurse I am used to giving lots of injections but it seems a bit more scary in a pig :? Can I just check, when the instruction say to give behind the...
