Piris

Do piris tend to come from the male or female lines, or does it tend to be more random?

Three 9week old Gilts, ready to go now

Unexpectedly we have three 9week old gilts - weaned, wormed, vaccinated and ready to leave now. All ginger & black. Yorkshire Dales. http://www.dalehousefarm.com/KuneLitter16April08.shtml Simon 015242 41211 http://www.dalehousefarm.com/images/kune/litter1/gilt1.jpg http://www.dalehousefarm.com/image...

I've never heard of any kind of pig doing that. Especially if there is more than one present with competition over the food.
You aren't feeding them too much or too often?

Pigs wanted

We are coming to Builth Wells this coming weekend for the smallholders show.
Its not an area I visit often, so I was wondering if there was anyone in the surrounding areas (or visiting the show themselves) that had any pigs for sale.

I keep our boar in with the sheep.
Hes too big to get picked on, and they can move fast enough to keep a distance when hes trying to be friendly.

Sue, we are just outside Cumbria, down the M6 from you - if that is more convenient. Near Ingleton / Kirkby Lonsdale. We could accomodate your sow.

How do you give Injections?

Has anyone any tips for injecting our adult Kunes? The younger pigs were easily restrained, but the adults are too clever and strong. All attempts at distracting them with food, or trapping them in a corner have failed. Is it just a case of man-power and brute force, or is there a trick I am missing?

Grazing

I currently have no pigs, as I have never wanted to churn up my fields with their rooting. I recently came by the kunekune website and I am interested in peoples opinion of how much grazing / rooting a kunekune does compared to other breeds. Can you literally leave a kune to graze as you would a she...
