Re: Whiff of curry

I love it too but boiled parsnips sound yummy too. Boiled parsnips and the Douglas Adams- only on the BKKPS!! Thanks both. :P

Whiff of curry

Can any one explain why my two KKs smell slightly of curry??? It is not unpleasant just surprising. Do they all do it? :?:

Flaky Skin

I have two 10 month old very healthy KKs. I have noticed one has a flaky skin under his long hair. I cannot see any egg like evidence, so don't think it is lice. There is no hair loss or loss of appetite so don't think it's mange. Any ideas about what is could be or how I can treat it?

Re: Another integration issue

How old is Snouty as he looks huge? My two are 10 months old a fraction of the size. Lovely picture by the way.
Like you, my husband and I can't believe how wonderful keeping KK pigs is- an utter joy.

Re: First spring?

Oh the vagaries of the English weather. Since the last post-the pigs are now so bored by all this snow, they have started poohing in their arc for the first time. They really hate this weather- poor little things.

First spring?

This is our first early spring (?) with our two KKs. It is an utter delight to see them making the best of any little bit of sunshine. Today caught them both fast asleep outside, snuggled by the wall for maximum warmth. Let's hope for a good spring and summer.

Re: balding sow

Not to underestimate the severity of your girls' image complex... but coincidently Dawn French on Desert Island Discs this week described her childhood pony as having a 'spring hair loss problem' (no maine or tail). Imagine the nasty gymkhana types about her little pony  !! Very funny and well ...

Many thanks and Season's Greetings

Happy Christmas All.
A huge thanks you to all at the BKKPS for their ongoing help, passion and commitment to this gorgeous pig ( and their keepers).
As a new keeper I have found your advice reassuring and reliable on all occasions.
Thanks again

Eating their bedding

If, like me, this is your first winter with Kunes beware :!: Mine are 6months old and living in a very sturdy warm dog kennel (The pig ark we bought is brand new but miles too big for them as yet). On Saturday I piled in a mountain of sweet dry hay as I was told it is warmer that straw. However, aft...

Re: Mexican Hat feeder

Interesting point Simon. My Kunes are 6 months old and very small. Mum was small and I am anticipating they will be smallish Kunes- but who knows.
We may well do as you suggest and just have two feeders as we do now.
Thanks- let's see if anyone has a spare??? :)
