KUNES FOR MEAT ADVICE WANTED PLEASE!

Its inevitable with the market as it is that we are all going to have surplus piglets/stock. I have decided to look into running my piglets on for meat and would like advice from anyone who has been through this process. (Di and Lynn I know you have) I have raised Saddlebacks before for our own meat...

Re: Biting Pigs

I agree too, I love my animals of which we have many, and am lucky that my Kunes don't bite.
I would feel bad destroying the pig, however I would feel a whole lot worse if one of my children was seriously injured.
A dangerous animal cannot be allowed as its just an accident waiting to happen!

I had to hand rear a piglet recently as she had an eye removed.
Full cream goats milk was recommended as a subsitute for her mothers milk and she thrived on it.
Jemima is now a happy healthy one eyed pig!
They love it.

Sorry Emmy, I have to agree, Pigs definatley do NOT like to be picked up and they are herd animals so do prefer a mate always. I am not trying to be offensive, but I am not sure where you could have read that they like to be picked up? Pandora does have a point re breeder- even if you said you wante...

:O I pay much less than that and take them down in a cat carrier!!
They don't sedate as they say there is no eveidence to show that this is as effective- meaning the pig gets as distressed which ever way!

Maybe I just have a good vet! :D
