Hiya, The slight frothing isn't anything to worry about - they all do it from time to time and I think it can be down to being hungry, thirsty, excited etc etc etc as long as they seem fine in themselves, aren't off their food and don't have a temp. it's usually nothing to worry about. Stanley's eye...

Winning kunekune at first Scottish Show

I'm so proud - I just had to share my news :D My 10 month old Awakino gilt won best kunekune at the Lesmahagow Agricultural show, shown by my 7 year old daughter, Rebecca. Rebecca was very dedicated when it came to training and it seems all her hard work paid off - she was so happy the wee thing sta...

I can't shed any light on the situation
But that's a very worrying story ! Sounds like they've been pinched by some low-life and sold on to make a quick buck
Shocking !

Hope you manage to find them a good home Wendy.

Thanks Wendy :D
I had thought that was the case, but wanted to make 100% sure before going ahead and getting her registered. She's an almost exact copy of her mum (who, incidentally, looks LOTS like your Bunty  ) so she's a good breed example, just minus one piri
Take care, Karen x

Are 2 piri's essential to register a gilt ?

As it say's above folks. I've been lucky so far, in that the number of gilts I've had that people want to breed with have had 2 piri - but in this last litter I only have 2 gilts. 1 has both piri's but the other only has 1. Apart from this she's a lovely wee gilt, 12 good teats, great confirmation e...

Scottish Pig Keepers Association

I?m delighted to announce the formation of The Scottish Pig Keepers Association. We have formed with the primary aim of promoting pigs (and pork) in Scotland and making competitive pig classes a regular feature at our agricultural shows once again, after an all too long absence. We hope to provide s...

Oh Di - you'll have to keep me posted on the bacon (sorry Wendy !) We've had a sample of some chops which were lovely, I think sausages would be good too *yum* Just out of interest, what's your feeding regime for fatteners ? Also (sorry for all the questions lol!) what age do you slaughter, what wei...

I'm really shocked by the ignorance or apparent lack of care/understanding some potential owners have - this lady's a prime example  How can you have an animal and deny it it's natural behaviour ? It's not fair - be like banning me from the PC lol! I find with mine that the youngsters ro...

Here are some of mine ! The adults actually live in an old (and unused) oil tank. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it's really solid, dry and toasty in the winter. Just as well really, cos it's been -20C here over the winter and LOTS of snow ! The filler cap on the top acts as a useful...

How do I post a photo ?

Hi all :D
I'd love to post some photo's of my KK's and their houses on a thread, but I'm struggling to do it
Do they need to be on-line somewhere already (and just post a link) or can I upload from my pc & how do I do that ?
Sorry for being the dunce in the corner lol!
Many thanks

Hi, If your block sty's are in good condition I'd be tempted to keep one there as a house for them, just remove the outer wall/gate. It'll be a bit warmer and having a concreted area outside it might be handy for the very wet weather (when you might want to contain them a bit to save your grass) but...
