piglets

Just to let you know, my girl had 9 healthy piglets today. Not bad for her 1st litter (to say she is on the younger side).

Sorry if I'm sounding stupid now! Reading your last comment, Mother & son. Does that mean if I kept a young boar piglet with piris, he would be able to serve his mum, auntie & any other gilt/sow, but not his sisters? I know I will definatly need a 2nd line of gilt & boar for 'breeding pairs'.

where do i get piglet kick start from? As for the milk supply, I know you can get powder milk for sheep, is there a pig powder too? I did read somewhere that baby milk can be used. Is this correct? I just want to be as prepared as I can for the 'big days'.

What type of problems should I be keeping an eye out for (as my boar managed to get into them without my permission) & they will both be 1yr in September. He is now in a pen like fort knox but it's too late for my girls. They are coping really well & are 100% healthy, but are definatly expecting! :?

So if you have 2 sisters, both to the same boar, is it acceptable to 'pair' 1 piglet from each litter as 'breeding pairs', or is it just 100% better for the kunekune breed to have 4 completely different parents? I am new to the pig breeding industry & want to be 100% sure of what's acceptable & what...

blood lines

I am completely confused with bloodlines in breeding.
How far down the family tree can they be related? If you have 2 kereopa (sister) sows can the piglets be sold as breeding pairs if by the same boar? Can a Kereopa sow go to a boar with a kereopa mother? The list goes on.

In pig

Why is it with kunekunes you wait until 1yr before you put 'in pig' when other pigs are 8 months?

Does it cause problems if they 'go to the boar' earlier?
