Boar not showing interest in gilts yet.

I'm new to breeding pigs and have a 10 month old boar not showing any interest in my gilts yet when they're in season.

Is this normal?

Any advise greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Cath

SMALLHOLDER SHOW - MAY 16TH/17TH 2009

Hi all,

I'm thinking of taking one of my pigs to this years smallholder show and, since this would be my first time showing kunekune's, need to know how this is organised. Any advice greatfully received.

Also, is anyone else going this year?

Kind regards,

Cath

Registered kunekune Pigs for Sale - Open to Offers

I've decided to reduce my kunekune herd and have 4 pigs needing new homes. Any offers considered. A good home is more important than price. Also unlimited help and advice offered with these pigs. I have 1 gorgeous B/W 10 month old entire boar who's been running with a mostly black gilt (12m) for the...

Breeding pair

Hi, yes i still have a breeding pair available. The boar (Alfie) is 9 months old and the gilt (Lulu) is 11 months, though both are still quite small and look similar in size. They will be ready to breed very soon, if not now. Alfie is gorgeous and I did buy him to keep but later realised he shares t...

Food/minerals in Winter

I've recently noticed my horses becoming hungrier as the grass loses its summer richness. For them its easy I just start supplementing them with some hard feed and chaff and soon will put hay out in the field for them. What do I need to do for my kunekune's? I would be interested to know what everyo...

Boar For Sale (Or Castrate and Gilt)

Hi, I've got a gorgeous boar needing a new home. He is too closely related to all but one of my girls for me to keep him but before I do the dastardly deed I thought I?d offer him entire first since he's such a lovely lad. Alfie was born March 2008, he's B/W, and I feel has lovely conformation. He d...

7 month old boar's bits!!

When should a kunekune boars testicles drop/become visable? Also can he do the business before they drop? Just realised he's probably of age and he's still in with the other gilts, but still no sign of his equipment!!

Thanks, Cath
