Thanks, she has survived the night and seems rounder and stronger already-it was a bit surreal bottle feeding a piglet through the night but worth it so far- fingers crossed! Do you think that anti-biotics at the first sign of a rasp or rattle would be the best thing? I have baytril in or could get ...

Thanks for that Di, it's reassuring that all yours survived , the replacement pig milk was only available in huge quantities when I sent my husband down to the feed merchants this morning, perhaps I need to look elsewhere, did Wendy not get hold of some last year and had it delivered very quickly, I...

Little runt

Harriets litter was born yesterday evening, all well except that we have another tiny runt. The last runt we had, we believed it was best to leave with Mum but we lost her. This one was very cold and still this morning and not feeding- last night she was holding her own and feeding well so I'm sure ...

Eartags

Just to check it is fine to move pigs with just the BKKS eartags, I know they don't have a herd number on but I suppose they make the pigs traceable through the BKKS number.
What sort of pliers do you need to fit them? Is it easy?

I was going to suggest poisoning! any poisonous plants like foxglove just beginning to come up, someone on the discussion board suddenly lost a pig last year due to foxglove ? our ragwort is just beginning to raise its ugly head although generally our pigs steer clear of any we haven't spotted.

I have Tony York's calculation from the book we got from one of his Pig Paradise courses, I presume it is the same. He simply says times length(from behind the ears to the root of its tail) by girth(tight to the pigs front legs) and then divide it by 12 if it is a lean pig, 11 if it is medium and 10...

What do you wean your litters with then Wendy, do you change to A&P and feed it to Mum also or do you separate Mum and litter at feeding time and just give the piglets A&P? Its all very confusing especially if Andy Case is saying to use normal sow nuts for all kunes and owners are saying their pigs ...

which feed?

I wondered how many people use common or garden sow and weaner nuts? And have your kunes grown bigger than you expected Di? I used Allan and Page religiously for my first two, they never looked fat but both grew much bigger than their parents, confusing as I had always understood that if not fed pot...

Dodson and Horrell Pot Bellied Pig Food

Des anyone use the new Dodson and Horrell Pot Bellied Pig Food instead of the Allen and Page. It certainly looks more interesting and is like pig nuts mixed with rabbit food, it has all sorts of weird and wonderful ingredients like nettle, dandelion, grass and rosehips although some of it is in very...
