spot marking

Hi, I use a red marker pen and place a mark of it on an area where it will show up on the pig, usually an ear. Movement form I write red mark where it asks for identification number.
You can only do this upto a year old.

Spot marking piglets?

Is it still legal to spot mark piglets when they go to their new homes or should they be ear tagged before they leave here now. There have been so many changes lately with Eu and tagging. Many thanks.

I have'nt used one but when we were planning our pig area which is quite windy we wondered if they would blow away. So hence we went for the traditional arks. If anyone else uses them do they stand up to alot alot of wind!

Do you keep your pigs in the house!!

With recent trends and tv exposure of the kunekune micro pig, which to be honest I'm not sure is doing the kunekune alot of good because of the small gene pool. I have had no end of people enquiring and wanting to keep them as house pets. I have always said this in my opinion not a good idea and thi...

When starting our small holding I was looking for a suitable pig for us and that is how I came into kunekune pig keeping. We are self sufficient in meat and veg. I adore them in every way and we do eat them too. Our first pig is in the freezer we loved him to bits and the kids named him Bacon. It wa...
