Re: Tag Numbers

Just email the ear tag numbers to the registrar and they will be able to look them up on the database.

There is also an article on kunekune ear tags that you might want to read.

Re: Advice on paddock management

Hi, there has been plenty of discussion on this forum - if you just search for rooting . At this time of year there will be no nutrition left in the grass. If they get hungry they will dig down for whatever they can find. Confine them to a smaller 'sacrifice' area until spring comes. When the ground...

Re: Adopting rescued kunes

Hi, I would suggest buying a pig book or two. They will give indepth detail to all your questions, and the answers to a few questions you didn't know to ask. The first thing you need to do is comply with the law on keeping pigs. But its not hard, so don't worry. 1) Get a CPH number if you don't have...

Re: Over-weight kunekunes

Like anyone offered greens I am sure they will turn their nose up at the hay and demand the nice high protein nuts. But if they are hungry enough they will eat it. Be wary of feeding the big three together as the same thing will happen - one of them will continue to get bigger.

Re: Over-weight kunekunes

The first thing to tackle is feeding them separately so that you can give each pig a set amount. If you feed them together then the biggest pigs will get most food. So separate pens that they trot into for meal times would be best. 'Sow breeder nuts' sound like they have a high protein content. Ask ...

Re: Piglets urinating in arc

Pigs won't soil their bed. But in a large space they will only consider part of it to be the bed, even if your opinion differs. They are presumably still small and won't consider all of the arc to be bedding. So you could block off half or most of the arc until they get bigger and just leave them wi...

Re: Porcine Papillomavirus

This isn't something I have ever seen. If you can add a photo, that would be good so that everyone could see what you are talking about. There are a variety of (often innocent) reasons why pigs get lumps, so I would be wary of an internet diagnosis. The best thing would be to consult a vet. The BKKP...
