Yes..weaning is stressful and they need a week or two to find their feet & get used to feeding and being without mum..it would be too many changes at once to re-home immediately after weaning.

I find that the mums had enough of them by 6 weeks and they're usually big enough to wean by then. Then they can be homed at 8-9 weeks.

farrowing

Just to add something..I've worked with farrowing sows and had my kunes breeding for a few years. I've never had a problem with them being in arks..just leave them to it..we have foxes here but never had a piglet taken..the mother keeps them warm naturally..and they don't need a creep area outdoors ...
