Re: Lone pig - what is a suitable companion?
Hello, sorry to hear about your kune. it is definitely best to introduce another kune. other animals are not really suitable companions and difficulties will arise with different diets etc. is your pig 6 months old or 1or 2 years old? i wasn't sure what you meant. if 6 months, introducing another of...

Re: Sow's milk appears to be drying up
The piglets should be sharing hard feed with their mother by 10 - 14 days. A big litter like this can be weaned at 6 weeks as they will really take their toll on the sow, but I wouldn't wean any earlier

Re: Help with my 2 x sows
Hi Lorraine, it is the introduction of the boar that is the problem - they know he's there and they are hormonal. keep them apart when one is in season but they should be fine when not in season. I run courses on keeping kunes and a dedicated breeding course. my website is www.bartonhill.co.uk i hav...

Re: my kunekune killed and ate a chicken, any experience of t
Very sorry to hear about the loss of your sow and well done for keeping all the litter well. my first thought was that the rabbit may have been poisoned - my father lost a dog once which had eaten a rabbit which died of paraquat poisoning, however, i am inclined to think the rabbit was coincidence a...

Re: Swollen cheek
this is probably compacted food in the cheek due to a dental abnormality. it is treatable. i have seen several and some have been lanced, some left and some just drained. leaving is the preferable treatment but it will need a good clean out by the vet first. There was an article on this in a past ne...
