Sherborne Castle Country Fair.- Rare Breeds Show

I have been asked again if I would be interested in doing a kunekune stand at this show. Its on the Bank Holiday Monday 26th May. I have no pigs that could be put on the stand. Anyone able to do a stand here? They have KK classes I believe this year. This is a small show but very interesting with a ...

A sad end but probably in hindsight the only realistic way out of a nightmare situation. You tried, you learnt, you did your best. Put it down to experience.

Re: 1 week old piglets

It is helpful to put a small quantity of nuts in a tray of milk. The piglets will stand in the tray and lap the milk and the nuts will soften. They soon get the hang of it. Did they get cholostrum when they were born?

Re: A friend for my pig :)

Just wondering if you have found a friend for your pig? I am sending this on behalf of a friend who is looking to rehome her two gilts (primroseflora). She is having problems logging into her computer at the moment and asked if I would send you her phone number. Jude's landline is 01935 863778 and h...

Re: Pig lame/spinal/leg issues?

I had a similar problem a few years ago with a sow. My vet came and said that pigs often get inflammation of the spine which causes standing problems, etc. He gave anti inflammatories and she has been fine since. No re occurance.

Re: jake re teeth

One of my sows developed a swelling on her cheek which made her look like a hampster. I guessed it was a similar problem of food compacting. It did not seem to give her any pain - I could prod it. I rang the vet and by the time he came it had 'burst' and drained out the outside of her cheek. Vet cle...

Re: Kunekune as companion for our GOS gilt?

You would also have the problem that the GOS would root up the ground and there would be no grass for the KK to graze.

You could not feed the KK when in with the sheep as sheep must not eat pig nuts (too much copper).

Rfor : Pigs rooting

Hate to say this but I have found the same. I have had 5 pigs for about 7 years and they have not rooted. The grass in their paddock is now knee high and I am going to have to swop around and put the cows in for a while to eat it down! There has been lots of discussion on this and I can only conclud...

Re: KuneKune's with sheep?

Mine are fine together but the problem is that sheep must not eat pig nuts - too much copper. Difficult to feed one without the other.

Andrew Boar

I am posting this for a friend as she does not have the internet. Andrew boar free to good home. His partner (Doris) has died and he is lonely. He has fathered several litters of lovely piglets. He is 4 yrs old and bred by myself and of course registered. He is black and white. Near Chard, Somerset....
