I have a proven tri-coloured boar with piris called Henry, you can see a picture of him on www.oakhousekunekune.co.uk, he is very gentle an...

Looking for a small boar, Yorkshire area

My little ginger gilt Lola is ready for the boar now that she is a year old but I am worried that my boar Henry is too big for her, she is about 18-20" tall and he is 26" tall. Apart from the complications during mating, i.e I'm sure he could just stand over her and it looks like he would squash her...

Hello Sue, Congratulations on your litter but sorry to hear that you are having problems.I have a sow called Peggy who has always reacted to her piglets aggressively and have now retired her, I have always had to call out the vet to give her a shot of stresnil (a sedative)straight after farrowing. T...

Thanks, they seem to have lots of greed for warm milk and oatibix and I have to hold the bowls steady to stop them being spilt in the frenzy but won't touch pig nuts! I'd like to move off the SMA as it costs a fortune and is a pain to have to keep making up but am tentative as I don't want to upset ...

the oatibix boys

I have 2 nearly five week old piglets, all I can think of is that Mum didn't have enough working teats as they got very thin very quickly until I had to step in with SMA, they have now progressed onto SMA and oatiblx and have finally got little round bellies, the rest of the litter are fine and doing...

Thanks Claire and vet friend, Sounds as though it is best avoided with young piglets at least, perhaps older pigs like Gary's are O.K with it.
I'm now interested in what 'dyspnea' means!

The kunekunes must have been a real hit at the show at the weekend, I have had several calls about piglets with people saying they had fallen in love with them there! Well done to all pigs and owners!

She is scouring this morning, I have the scourhalt at the ready if it does...
